The season 2003/2004 opens with news of
high technical and human profile: first
of all, the arrival of the competition rider
Mario Maini as instructor, adviser, competition
rider and friend.
M. Maini, who was born in a family of riders,
begins the activity of competition rider
as a four years old boy. He got his first
victories at the age of 8, and from 1950
onward, he participated to many national
and international competitions. |

| He won more
than 70 prizes for potence. The French
defined him “great competition rider,
competition specialist and excellent
horse trainer”. In the 1970s the Germans
called him “the best competition rider
of the moment”. The A.N.I.E. gave
him in 1999 a prize to the career.
In the FISE memorandum he appears
among the five best Competition riders,
with the most part of victories, of
all times. He participated to 7 editions
of the Siena’s Palio Horse Race and
afterwards, as the big eclectic man
he is, Maini passed with ease from
Piazza del Campo to Piazza di Siena,
gaining a great success for more than
five years. A bad motocross accident
in 1960, precluded to Maini the possibility
to participate, in the best period
for himself and for the Italian Horsemanship,
to the Olympiads of Rome. |

What to say about him? An inimitable
competition rider, he brought to the “Due
Laghi” his unique style, besides the power
of a strong charisma and a sublime technical
and didactic skill.
Seeing him riding and teaching makes one
reflect: the art lives in the heart and,
there’s no doubt, for great men, neither
time nor age count.
Who better than him can be the testimonial
of the forthcoming programs of the “Due
Laghi”?
